My Weight-loss Adventure

This Blog is a chronicle of the weight-loss adventure I began on June 12, 2003 with Michael Thurmond's Six Week Body Makeover program, which is available at www.provida.com. It contains my story and the tools I have used to assure success along the way.

2009 Re-start Week 10

You may ask, "What happened to Weeks 8 and 9?" Well, I was basically on vacation and celebrating my birthday with friends in Lubbock. The bad news is that I was NOT on program during that time, so I gained 5.6 lbs. However, the good news is that getting right back on program, I have lost 3 lbs. this week and 2 inches. I am finding this second time around, it is more difficult to stay focused, but I am determined to do so. Life happens and it happens only once, so I am not divorcing myself from living; just trying to be "good" when I am not faced with major events. It is so easy to fall into the trap of "it won't hurt to eat wrong, just this one time," because it seems to try to creep in EVERY time.

Anyway, I am glad to be back on track, and I must admit that yesterday I went to the Dallas Arboretum and walked leisurely for 1 hour and 45 minutes. I feel it today, because I have not been faithful to my walking regime, but I feel SO energized, that I want to do it again!! It takes a lot to motivate me to move, so that is a good thing. Here is a link to my pictures (I hope this works...have never tried it before! I think you'll have to copy and paste.):

I made a discovery this week at the grocery store. I had been hearing about Steamers, packages of veggies that can be popped into the microwave. You do have to be careful....many have sauces and additives, but there are some that are just the veggies themselves, and then you season them yourself. I was at Walmart, and their store brand is Steamables. I would not use them all the time, but it would be great to have them as a back-up in case I run out of the ones I cook from scratch. The national brand was $2.08 and the equivalent Walmart brand was $1.28. The one I bought was a combo of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. You just pop it into the microwave and in about 6 or 7 minutes, they are ready. I would think if you worked away from home, these might be great to take for lunch, along with the rest of your foods. Just a thought!
