My Weight-loss Adventure

This Blog is a chronicle of the weight-loss adventure I began on June 12, 2003 with Michael Thurmond's Six Week Body Makeover program, which is available at www.provida.com. It contains my story and the tools I have used to assure success along the way.

2009 Re-start Week 6

Good morning!!

Well friends, this is the end of my first six weeks of the re-start. This past week had several dietary challenges. First we had a bridal shower and I was very careful before and after what I ate, and even there I was more careful than normal, but HEY! It was shower food!!!! Actually, I don't think that was the worst challenge. This whole week I have fought a respiratory "thing" accompanied by a severe sore throat, so I've been taking meds to tackle the "bug" or whatever it is and that always interferes with weight loss. I know that a couple of days, I mainly slept and did not get all my meals in, which is also a blow to losing. Anyway, bottom line: I did not gain or lose pounds this week, but I did lose 6.25 inches overall. That makes my 6 week total: 18.5 lbs. lost since Jan. 2 and 45.5 inches lost overall!!! I am geared up for the next six weeks, and am going to try to be more consistent in adding daily walking to my schedule. That's another thing I did not do this past week, which was definitely a hindrance!! However, I am happy to be better than I was 6 weeks ago, and am excited to see what the next six weeks brings!

If you are trying to lose and having a hard time, just remember that the scale does not always tell the whole story and that you must measure to know the true differences in your body, especially if you are exercising consistently. Take the time to analyze what you might be doing to prevent your losing. Are you drinking enough water? Have you eaten all 6 of your meals/snacks for the day? Did you eat enough calories to allow your body to lose? Did you eat on time? Did you skip a meal? If you eliminate any or all of those things, you may be setting yourself up for failure. I KNOW, for example, that I drank too many Diet Dr Pepper drinks this week and that I did not get all my water in. That is a rarity for me, but when I don't feel up to par, that's what I have done in the past.....and I was no different this past week. I can see where my weak points were, and now I need to correct them!

Well, I'll see you here next week for the next leg of my journey!! Happy losing, Liz
