Mid-week update
I thought of something I should remind you.......the scale does not tell the whole story. Please don't forget to measure. Sometimes, when you have had a fairly large or even a steady loss at the scale, all of a sudden nothing seems to happen there. However, if you are checking your measurements, something IS happening. I'm a prime example of that this week. After losing 12.2 lbs. LAST week, so far this week it looks like I haven't lost, BUT, if you check my measurements I am still losing, just not in the same way. During the week, I measure only my waist and my hips and have discovered that I have lost another inch in both. I even re-measured 2 more times, just to be sure, and that was correct!!! So, don't try to lose by the scale only. Be SURE you are also using the measuring tape.
Somewhere in the archives of this blog, there is an article about that fact. It also mentions that when we think we're on a plateau and NOT losing, that our fat cells are trying to catch up, but it is happening at the cellular level....which we cannot see. We are also told that a plateau is 4-6 weeks without having lost either lbs. or inches. That's when most people give up...."I've been eating right, exercising, drinking my water, and I'm still not losing....." Have you heard that one (or said it?)??? Remember, just keep doing what you know was working for you, and let your body adjust. We didn't get this way overnight and we're not going to put it away from us overnight either!!! I'll see you on Friday...my weigh-day. Liz
