My Weight-loss Adventure

This Blog is a chronicle of the weight-loss adventure I began on June 12, 2003 with Michael Thurmond's Six Week Body Makeover program, which is available at www.provida.com. It contains my story and the tools I have used to assure success along the way.

Happy New Year 2008!

I just realized it has been over a month since I've checked in. The holiday rush was on, my schedule was "out the window" and immediately after Christmas, I came down with full-blown bronchitis, which I used to have every year of my life until I started supplementing my diet with Shaklee food supplements. However, I became distracted and complacent during Christmas week and only spasmodically took them. As a result, my allergies took over and attacked my chest ....my own personal "Achilles heel"!! I've been in the house for 10 days now, eating soups and drinking water, and this is the first day I have felt like lifting a finger to do ANYTHING.

What makes me angry is that I know better. But isn't that what this journey is all about? We all know better? We know not to fill up on sweets, salty foods, breads, and fats. We know that we should be taking our supplements, eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies and smaller amounts of proteins. We know we should be consistent, eating lots of small meals every 2-3 hours apart. We should be exercising, with walking being the best exercise for everyone!! All the literature tells us that. We KNOW better, but we let our hearts and our taste buds rule over our minds, and then we suffer the consequences for it....added weight, joint pain, headaches, lack of energy, and pretty much total dysfunction. Well................, it does NOT have to be that way. Since I have not been able to get out and grocery shop for myself, and have not had the energy to cook anyway, I have been eating lots of soup. Some of it was "legal" and some was not. Usually I gain when I am totally on liquids, but as of this morning (and tomorrow is officially weigh day) I had lost 6.4 lbs since last Monday. YEA!! I will post again tomorrow or the next day, since my housekeeper is coming tomorrow, and I've got to find the furniture and floor so she CAN clean. Take care and happy losing. More later.
