My Weight-loss Adventure

This Blog is a chronicle of the weight-loss adventure I began on June 12, 2003 with Michael Thurmond's Six Week Body Makeover program, which is available at www.provida.com. It contains my story and the tools I have used to assure success along the way.

Happy 2010

It has been a long and arduous journey since I last posted here, but my hip is improving to the point that I am able to walk and shop in small stores, although I still opt for the electric cart at the superstores! The parking garage in my apt. complex has been under repair construction since the week before Thanksgiving. That means, instead of driving up to my floor, parking and walking a very short distance to my apt., I am having to park on another floor, take the elevator to my floor, walk across the garage, up a ramp and then enter the hallway by my apt. It has really been a nuisance, but I must admit, I am probably walking better because it has made me have to walk further!! My grandmother always said there was a silver lining in every cloud, so I guess that is my silver lining! HA!

Anyway, the holidays are over, the company is gone, and now I can get down to the business of returning to Michael Thurmond's weight loss program. Long story short: I have been through 3 years of major depression due to the loss of 29 of my closest friends and all my immediate relatives. I fell back into the old habit of soothing my sorrow with food, so now I must start over!! The good thing is, I know what to do.

This morning I worked out the schedule that I need to follow. I will not be eating out at least for the first 6 weeks, and then when I do, it will be for salad only. I will take my home grilled chicken, my salad dressing, and my fruit/carb with me to dress the salad. That worked so well for me in the past, and I intend to go back to the original plan, with the idea of keeping it simple until I jump-start my metabolism. For any of you out there who have done the Six Weeks Body Makeover in the past, remember never to use the most severe plan (Rapid Results) until at least after the first six weeks, and even then, for only a few days at a time. Michael told us we have to eat to lose, and if you restrict yourself extremely in the beginning, you may be setting yourself up for not being able to lose later. Here's the schedule and I will be keeping a food diary each day to be sure I'm getting all the foods in I am supposed to have and to be sure I'm NOT eating the wrong things......it is important to be AWARE of what you are eating and drinking.

Daily Schedule

Take meds. (BP & thyroid)

Take vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, blood sugar)
