My Weight-loss Adventure

This Blog is a chronicle of the weight-loss adventure I began on June 12, 2003 with Michael Thurmond's Six Week Body Makeover program, which is available at www.provida.com. It contains my story and the tools I have used to assure success along the way.

My first road trip on plan

I can tell I’m not quite ready for any road trips, although I did have a great time going to Bonham on Friday afternoon. We were finally celebrating our friends’ birthdays, which actually happened in MAY!!! We had a few interferences: one of us had major surgery; yours truly had a back injury; then, one went on vacation for 3 weeks, and FINALLY, we were all home and could celebrate!!! This was my first adventure driving, which was only 1 hr. 20 min., but I had not driven alone for that length of time. The trip to Bonham was uneventful, so that was a good thing!! On Saturday, we went to Painting with a Twist and then we went to Durant, OK, to eat at Naifeh’s Steakhouse, which was really exceptional!! When we got back to Bonham, I put my feet up for a little while, and then headed home. I did well for the first half of the trip, but the last half was plagued with massive rolling muscle spasms all over my body, starting first in the arms, then the back and then the legs. I was so glad to get home, and unloaded. I took a muscle relaxer, sat in my recliner and slept for 3 hours. For those of you who know me, I am a night owl, but I was in bed by 9:30!!!!!! (Pick yourselves up off the floor!) I took another muscle relaxer at 2:00, because I was still having some muscle spasms, although not quite as severe.

I have to say I was a little worried that I would gain, after having had a wonderful week of losing, but I did take my foods with me, and although I knew I would not be totally on plan, I did pretty well. We had breakfast at Cracker Barrel, which consisted of eggbeaters and a bowl of plain oatmeal with Splenda in it. Oh, and I had coffee to drink. We had our 2 hour painting class after that, and then we drove to Durant to have lunch at Naifeh's, which is a wonderful Lebanese steak place. I did not have my snacks, although I had them with me. For lunch I had a delicious and moist grilled chicken breast with a plain baked potato, and a salad with a raspberry vinaigrette. I DID eat a homemade roll, but didn’t have any butter, and we did have an appetizer, which we shared of the most wonderful hummus and celery sticks!!! YUM!! Anyway, long story short, I weighed early this morning and had lost .2 of a lb., but I had not had a really good bowel movement, so later, when I really got up, I re-weighed and had lost 1.6 lbs!!! I also lost another 4 inches!! SOOOOO, that makes my total for the first 10 days: lost 15 lbs. and 20.5 inches overall!!!! I am excited!!!!
