The key is not to focus on what you can't have during the weight loss portion of the program. The key is to focus on all the wonderful fresh fruits and veggies and very lean meats that you can have, plus all the incredible herbs and spices from all over the world. It does sound very restrictive, but with a little creativity or by finding groups of recipes like those on the Provida website or my BLOG, you can create wonderfully tasty menus. I love to cook, and once I figured out ALL the foods that I COULD have, the sky was the limit!!! Don't feel overwhelmed, but trust me, we all started out like that, but now that I'm down 146 lbs. in 2 years on this program, I wouldn't think of going back to my old ways of eating. The other key is to stay close to one or two of the message board groups. I've been with the WOW group for over a year now, and also with the Next Step for those starting out over 300 lbs. It's a lot like family, and then when I got to meet the other 17 on the infomercial shoot, I instantly had ANOTHER Provida family!! Just take it one day at a time and sometimes one meal at at time. You will be eating 6 times a day, but very small portions. However, I have not been hungry since June 12, 2003, when I started this program, EXCEPT for the days I've had to fast for lab work with my doctor.
I think the book you are talking about is the 6 day mini-makeover 6DMM, and that is for people who need to lose just one dress size or less than 10 lbs. It is not a long-term plan, because it is too restrictive. If you have more to lose, then you need to get the SWBM (Six Week Body Makeover) which ranges in price from $99 on HSN to $120 from Provida. The manual alone is well-worth the fee. You are guaranteed to lose up to 30 lbs. the first six weeks, and I lost only 27, but I was so ecstatic that I would never have even considered returning it!! If you are truly wanting to improve your health and would like the side benefit of looking better, then this is the plan for you. You must be serious about wanting to change your lifestyle, and that is what is required....this is NOT a diet. It is a plan for life and if you read the article I wrote about the holidays this year, you'll get a glimpse at how this can become a lifelong plan. Amazing!
I just started the program, and I only eat organic. I MISS my nuts, seeds, Ezekiel bread and other alkaline-forming foods. I don't use sweeteners other than Stevia. Any recipes that incorporate nuts or seeds in place of meat? I'm an A.
