Update 10-29-07
This has been a strange week. Early in the week I lost a couple of pounds, and then the last 2 days, I have had an intestinal "virus" or some kind of upset. As a result, I did not get all my meals in and I also did not get all my water in, at least for the past 2 days. As of this morning, the "bug" seems to be gone, and I actually GAINED 2 lbs., but the good news is that I lost 7.25 inches all over. That means I've lost 16 inches in the past 2 weeks in the 13 measuring spots, so that is a good thing. This just re-emphasizes to me the power of eating 6 small meals each day, with just the right foods and that 100 oz. of water!! The Michael Thurmond SWBM program works and when I'm not on program, my body stores whatever it gets. I don't know why that always amazes me. Also, it gives me a chance to remind each of you who may be working to lose weight always to weigh AND measure. Often you will not lose pounds (or you may even gain), but you still have lost inches. Don't be discouraged if you even have weeks where you don't lose either weight or inches. Experts tell us that it often takes 4-5 weeks for the fat cells to re-adjust to their new, smaller size (apparently we never lose our fat cells....we just deflate them! That's why I rejoice in all those trips to the restroom.....deflating, deflating, deflating!!!). During that re-adjustment period, when we have done everything right: have been eating right, drinking that water, exercising, etc., we may not notice any visible losses, but at the molecular level there is a LOT going on. That's when we give up, saying, "Well, I've done everything I was supposed to do and it is just not working." WRONG!!! It is working, but you must be patient and not give up. I will not be able to report next week, so I'll see you here in 2 weeks.
